The City of Helsinki has accepted a tender from Nuuka to implement an energy and smart building management system in the city’s approximately 1000 buildings. The estimated value of the tender for Nuuka is 1,8MEUR and signifies another leap forward for Nuuka following the recent news of Nuuka’s technology partnership with OVG Real Estate for Unilever in the US.

The energy and smart building management system that Nuuka will deliver for the City of Helsinki entails energy reporting, indoor air quality and HVAC process performance analytics. Energy reporting includes: monitoring of electrical, district heat and water meters for 1000 buildings in Helsinki. In addition, Nuuka will provide HVAC and indoor air quality monitoring for 150 buildings. This provides more extensive analysis of the building’s indoor air and process performance on top of the traditional energy reporting. Furthermore, better indoor air quality and optimized building processes are reached in the buildings in the City of Helsinki.

With urban growth showing no signs of slowing down, cities will continue to be huge consumers of energy as well as a significant cause of global carbon emissions. Today, cities consume over 60% of the world's energy and create over 70% of global CO2 emissions.

Mikko Valtonen, CEO Nuuka:

“The city of Helsinki ran a very professional and thorough evaluation process to make sure they selected the best partner for them in becoming even smarter, greener and more sustainable city.

Being selected by the City of Helsinki after a rigorous evaluation process, is of course a major win for Nuuka. I want to thank the City for choosing Nuuka and give a big round of applause to the team for getting this tender won for Nuuka. Now it’s time to really get to work with the experts at the City of Helsinki and we could not be more excited about it!”
